Main Goals & Responsibilities

Purification and identification of different phytopathogens.

Studying the molecular characterization of the host-pathogen interaction of the most economically important plant diseases in Egypt.

Raise specific antibodies to different phytopathogens.

Production of monoclonal antibodies for potato virus Y (PVY).

Production of molecular markers in Fusarium oxysporum.

Production of molecular markers in Ascochyta.

Identification of ribosome-inactivating proteins (RIP) and their genes in the North-coast area of Egypt.

Studying the properties of RIP proteins and their correlation in plant defense against plant pathogens and pests.

Current Research Projects

Development of Improved Strategies for the Control of Faba Bean Necrotic Yellows Virus (FBNYV) in Food Legume Crops of West Asia and North Africa.

Development of Virus Resistance in Plants using Ribosome- Inactivating Protein (RIP) Genes.

Molecular Characterization and Identification of the Most Important Species and Races of the Root-knot Nematode (Meloidogyne spp.).

Production of Biopesticides for Controlling Plant Pathogens and Pests.

Genetic Variability within Fusarium oxysporum sp. lycopersici.

Genetic Characterization of Certain Ascochyta sp. Using Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD).

Current Research Services
