Characterization of stress-induced proteins (drought, salt and heat shock).

Isolation and characterization of stress related genes.

Isolation, characterization and expression of chitinase, its activity as a biological control agent.

Construction of eukaryotic expression cassettes for plant transformation.

Enhancement of nutritional quality of seed storage proteins in legumes.

Establishment of transformation system for crop plant.

Establishment of transformation materials using molecular methods.

Current Research Projects

Characterization and Identification of Stress - Related Genes from Local Habitat in the North-West Coastal Region of Egypt.

Development of Transgenic Barley with Improved Tolerance to Abiotic Stresses.

Breeding Triticum durum in Mediterranean Region by Using in vitro and Genetic Transformation Tools.

Current Research Services

Protein fingerprinting using SDS-PAGE and isozymes for the identification of genotypes, varieties and cultivars.
