| Main Goals & Responsibilities | |
• Isolation, molecular identification and conservation of newly discovered insect viruses in Egypt. • Production of wild type and genetically modified baculoviruses for biological pest control. • Development of baculovirus expression system for protein production. • Study the development of insect resistance to local and authentic isolates of entomopathogenic bacteria and viruses. • Identification of neurotoxic peptides from scorpions and snakes and isolation of their genes to be used for genetic engineering of entomopathogenic viruses. • Production of antisera against major viruses in Egypt.
