Protein & Nucleic Acid Sequence Analysis

T
he advent of recombinant DNA techniques and the ability to rapidly sequence DNA has brought the need for computer analysis right into the laboratory. Nucleic acid and protein sequence contain a wealth of information of interest to molecular biologists. The linguistics of the DNA need to be understood and worked out by analysis of available sequences.

A large collection of molecular biology software, for nucleic acid and protein sequence analysis, are accessible to AGERI scientists on various computer platforms (PCs, Macs & UNIX).

Access to the GCG Wisconsin Package is available via login to remote servers. A timely update mechanism for retrieval of protein and nucleic acid sequences is available via the Internet. Major hosts (NCBI, EBI) provide scientists with the latest editions of all major sequence databases on-line.
