The official flow of management at AGERI is
illustrated in figure (7). The governing board of AGERI includes
the Chairman of ARC Board, ARC Director, AGERI Director, one Deputy Director for Research,
one Deputy Director for Extension and Training as well as a collective group of full time
scientists. The board meets regularly on a monthly basis.
One of many vital
contributions AGERI has accomplished is the identification and recruitment of a collective group of 25 senior scientists of high scientific
accomplishment and work ethics. Each one is a vital link in the program's goals for crop
improvement. The senior scientists have institutional affiliations and disciplines within
Egypt as well as their scientific responsibilities within AGERI. They are representatives
and practicing faculty members from five Egyptian universities. They work at AGERI on a
joint-appointment basis which maximizes their interaction between the academic and
research domains. AGERI also receives short-term consultation and collaborative research
assistance from a number of scientists.
Their high level
of international training in conjunction with their enthusiasm to invest their talents
into AGERI's biotechnology programs is an encouraging addition to the cause of Egypt's
agricultural technology development.
